They come into contact with the water in the water heater lining, forming a primary battery due to chemical reactions with the inner liner (primarily iron). As the water in the inner tank is not pure, it contains various impurities which can lead to corrosion. When the water temperature rises above 40°C, scaling occurs. Without a magnesium rod, the inner tank may suffer from corrosion. Excellent replacement for old units.
