M24 Thread Inserts For Plastic And Metal

M24 stainless steel wire thread inserts suitable for both metal (aluminium, zinc, copper) and rigid engineering plastics (e.g., ABS, polycarbonate, nylon composites). Constructed from cold-drawn AISI 304 stainless steel with a tightly controlled diamond-shaped coil section. Key dimensions: M24 × 3.0 mm thread, free length 20 mm, recommended minimum installed depth 36 mm. Tensile strength exceeds 800 MPa; hardness ~200 HV — sufficient to resist deformation while remaining compatible with softer parent materials.Unlike epoxy-based thread repair systems or oversized bushings, these inserts preserve original hole location and size — crucial for alignment-critical assemblies. Installation follows a validated three-stage method: pilot drilling to Ø22.5 mm, tapping with M24 × 3.0 mm bottoming tap, and controlled winding using calibrated torque-limiting tools. Final thread meets ISO 965-1 tolerance class 6H.Used extensively in UK OEM supply chains for white goods housings, electric vehicle battery module frames, and instrumentation panels — where mixed-material assemblies demand robust, field-serviceable fastening without compromising structural or aesthetic integrity.
